From the early 50’s to the late 90’s Chrysler automatic transmissions were regarded as one of the best on the market. The 545RFE is a late 90’s design using a 5 speed upshifting sequence, but a total of 6 speeds (includes 2’ lift for towing). Well regarded, durable and reliable this 545RFE transmission for sale offers pristine engineering allowing maximum performance for a minimal price.

    Chrysler known for their top of the line transmissions, the 545RFE is no exception. Here at Smart Parts we have taken what is good and made it even better when it comes to quality and performance. Our 545RFE transmission uses 5 speeds in upshifting, but has 6 total speeds so it has an alternate gear for kickdown (2’). 2' is also substituted into the shift pattern when "Tow/haul" mode is selected, while the top gear (second overdrive) is dropped out to increase the overall cruising gear ratio. We have improved upon the already near flawless design, while still keeping prices at the wholesale level. We do this through an efficient building process and precision streamlining. Our 545RFE transmission exceeds not only in torque but also in durability and performance.

    OEM 545RFE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS:

    Some issues 545RFE owners have had in the past include problems with solenoid clatter, however in 2006 Chrysler refined their transmissions with a redesigned solenoid for near silent shifting, and a turbine damper to cut noise and vibrations from the torque converter.
